Is this the world’s smallest industrial 2-axis Hall Effect joystick?

Live Electronics, the specialist distributor of rugged industrial electronics products, has introduced what the company believes is the world’s smallest 2-axis Hall Effect joystickMeasuring just 17.5mm high above panel x 18mm in diameter, the new TS2 joystick is an IP67, analogue self-centring device, which is designed for use with remotely operated equipment, robotics and automation systems, drones and CCTV controllers.

TS2

The TS2 joystick is based on proven Hall Effect technology, providing accurate, easy to control 12-bit resolution in both the X and Y axesThe joystick offers excellent tactile feedback and has been engineered for a minimum of 2.5 million actuationsIt can be supplied with either two open or two gated limiters, a choice of circular convex or concave, castle or flat singleaxis (Y) style caps, and fits a standard 12.6mm panel cut-out with the option of a control-grip mount.

The new joystick is rated for a supply voltage of 5V and is available with pre-wired JST 28AWG cable or potted terminations.  Operating temperature is between -40 to +85°C, while the TS2 complies with EN61000 electromagnetic compatibility and SAE J1455 vibration and shock testing standards.

The TS2 is manufactured in California by Ruffy Controls and is part of the company’s extensive range of industrial miniature and fingertip joysticks and switches.  Live Electronics is the company’s specialised industrial distributor in the UK.

Rugged IP67 & IP68 USB-C connectors from GT Contact

Waterproof IP-rated USB-C connectors

New from Live Electronics is the latest range of rugged waterproof USB-C connectors.  Manufactured by GT Contact, the new connectors meet IP67 and IP68 specifications, are available with tough thermoplastic (IP67) or metal (IP68) housings, and in a choice of panel mount, cable mount or cable to cable (in-line) versions.

The new USB-C connectors have been designed for use in a wide range of demanding industrial and process applications, from oil and gas, marine and transport, to power generation, industrial controls and robotics or automation systems.

The new connectors incorporate screw or bayonet twist and lock couplings, for 16mm panel cut-outs.  Metal versions feature high quality nickel-plated zinc-alloy bodies, with gold-plated stainless-steel connector housings and gold-plated copper-alloy contacts for optimum signal integrity and long-term reliability.

Panel mount versions can be supplied as DIP pin or be pre-wired with USB-C plug or socket terminations, while rear potting ensures that system electronics are fully protected, even when the USB-C connector is unmated or the optional sealing cap is removed.  Data transfer speeds are typically up to 10Gbps and operating temperatures are from -40°C to +85°C.

Luke Hartley, Managing Director of Live Electronics, explains that,

“Although we already have an extensive range of rugged USB connectors, many of our OEM customers require IP67 and IP68 rated USB-C devices for the latest generation of electronic systems that are designed for use in particularly demanding applications.  With our long-standing relationships with leading electronic component manufacturers around the world we’ve been able to source what we believe is an outstanding range of tough USB-C connectors, which we can supply in a wide choice of variants to meet almost all customer needs.”
